Alice Cooper Clarifies Meaning of “Death Pact” with Wife, Sheryl Goddard
We all know Alice Cooper loves the dead, but when the Godfather of Shock Rock made headlines over the weekend about a “death pact” with his wife of 43 years, Sheryl Goddard, he made a point to clarify what he meant.
Cooper told USA Today, “We have a LIFE pact. We love life so much. What I was meaning was that because we’re almost always together, at home and on the road, that if something did happen to either of us, we’d most likely be together at the time. But neither of us has a suicide pact. We have a life pact.”
The whole “death pact” hubbub started when Cooper was quoted by U.K.’s The Daily Mirror saying, “We’ve made a pact – there is no way of surviving without each other. I couldn’t live without her. We always said there will never be a time when one of us will be mourning the other. Whenever it does happen, we are going to go together.”
See! It was all a misunderstanding. Turns out Cooper was just trying to convey how much time he and Goddard spend with one another. If only we all could be so lucky to have a marriage like that.
