Jack White on the Rise of Greta Van Fleet, Counting Bob Dylan Among his Friends
Jack White covered a wide range of topics in a new interview with Rolling Stone, and among them included fellow Michiganders Greta Van Fleet and his friendship with Bob Dylan.
When asked about his thoughts on GVF, White said, “They’re three Polish brothers from Frankenmuth, Michigan — I thought that was a joke! But it’s exciting to see young people play rock & roll, no doubt about it.”
As for all of their Led Zeppelin comparisons, White added, “That guy [Josh Kiszka] has a very cool voice. The more he makes it his own, the better. People used to say, when I first came out, ‘He sounds like Robert Plant.’ If you keep pushing forward, that s— goes away.”
White ventured into very interesting territory when asked if his friendship with Dylan has ever yielded any songwriting collaborations.
“I cannot tell you that. I wish I could tell you, but I cannot,” said White.
Whether White was serious or not isn’t really known, but fingers crossed that something was written/recorded by him and Dylan. Maybe it could make for a special release as part of Third Man Records’ Vault series. We all can dream, right?
