Rolling Stones’ ‘Paint It Black’ Covered in New Pepsi Super Bowl Ad
The Rolling Stones will be getting some airtime during the Super Bowl in a unique way thanks to Pepsi.
The band’s classic song “Paint It Black” is covered by R&B artist H.E.R. and Missy Elliott. The ad is for Pepsi Zero Sugar, the cola brand’s zero-calorie soda which is housed in a black can, and it cleverly calls out rival Coca-Cola with the opening lyric, “I see a red door and I want it painted black.”
In the ad’s caption on Pepsi’s YouTube page, the brand says, “Since Pepsi Zero Sugar packs the same refreshing taste of Pepsi that people love, without any of the sugar, we needed a song just as uncompromising.”
A 30-second spot can be viewed below. Whether or not an extended version of the ad will air during the Super Bowl is not yet known.
