Nickelback Releases Cover of ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’
Following an announcement tease earlier this week that made Twitter react…well…like Twitter, Nickelback has unveiled what they had up their sleeve: A cover of the Charlie Daniels Band classic “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
Embedded below, this marks the first release from Nickelback since their ninth studio album, 2017’s Feed the Machine. An animated music video for Nickelback’s take on “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” is set to premiere today (August 14) at 12 PM ET. That clip is also embedded below and can be viewed once it premieres.
In a statement, the band said, “A few years ago we recorded a take of ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’ during a studio session with our good friend Dave Martone. It was a fun song to tackle and brought back so many good memories for us all. When Charlie Daniels passed last month, the world lost a music icon. We hope our version will bring half as much joy as his did for us and so many others.”
Coincidentally, Korn also released a cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” a little over two weeks ago via their Bandcamp page.
