Corey Taylor vs. MGK: The Latest on Their War of Words
The war of words between Corey Taylor and Machine Gun Kelly has escalated significantly and might be over thanks to some screenshots from CMFT.
Following MGK bashing Slipknot (who he called “the old weird dudes with masks”) during his set at Riot Fest over the weekend in response to Taylor saying how he hates “artists who failed in one genre and decided to go rock,” the rapper-turned-rocker had the following response via Twitter:
“Corey did a verse for a song on tickets to my downfall album, it was f—ing terrible, so i didn’t use it. he got mad about it, and talked s— to a magazine about the same album he was almost on. yalls stories are all off. just admit he’s bitter.”
This Tweet then led to Taylor to respond on Twitter writing, “I don’t like people airing private s— like a child. So this is all I’ll say: I didn’t do the track because I don’t like when people try to ‘write’ for me. I said NO to THEM. So without further ado…. #receipts This is all I’m going to say about it.”
Included with the tweet were two screenshots of emails between Taylor and Travis Barker, the blink-182 drummer who worked on MGK’s album Tickets to My Downfall. The first screenshot shows Barker forwarding notes from MGK to Taylor in which he wrote he was “super inspired again after listening to Corey’s vocals on ‘Can’t Look Back'” and “can u tell him he f—in killed it and I’m stoked and HONORED he is even on it.”
The second screenshot is an email from Taylor to Barker in which he writes, “So, I listened to the ideas and to be honest, I don’t think I’m the right guy for the track. Nothing personal, I just think if this is what MGK is looking for, someone else is the guy to do it. It’s ALL good, and I’m stoked for him – I hope you guys find the right fit for it. Hope you understand and I wish you guys the best with it. If I can help in any way, let me know.”
Where this back-and-forth goes next is anyone’s guess, but those screenshots from Taylor are pretty damming. Perhaps MGK should think twice before getting into the metaphorical ring with CMFT. Has he learned nothing from his beef with Eminem?
