Man Sues Psychic for Charging Over $5,000 to Lift Ex Girlfriend’s Curse
A California man is suing a “psychic love specialist” who allegedly promised to remove a curse placed on him by an ex-girlfriend at the heavy price of $5,100.
Per Newsweek, a fraud suit filed by Mauro Restrepo with Torrance Superior Court says psychic Sophia Adams said she could save his relationship provided he paid the necessary fee to exorcise the spell.
She also allegedly warned Restrepo he and his family would be “unhappy and in danger” unless the curse was lifted.
Despite making a down payment on the fee, Restrepo’s suit says it “did not in any way help” his situation, prompting him to launch legal proceedings.
Adams and her business, Psychic Love Specialist By Sophia are named as defendants in the suit along with her husband, George R. Adams and daughter Tiffany Winston.
Restrepo is seeking $25,000 in compensatory damages along with punitive damages. The suit, which was filed last Friday, also alleges negligence, civil conspiracy and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
According to the suit, Restrepo came across Adams’ website while searching for psychics on Google on September 17.
The court documents say that because Adams described herself as a “psychic love specialist” and “Ph.D Life Coach,” Restrepo was “more confident that he was speaking with a professional that could help him.”
