Lady Gaga Confirms She Will Star In ‘Joker 2’
Lady Gaga recently confirmed her casting in Joker: Folie à Deux today (August 4) by posting a musical teaser on social media. Gaga will be starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix in 2019’s Joker, for which he won the Oscar for best actor.
“Joker: Folie à Deux 10.04.24” reads Gaga’s Instagram caption, revealing the release date as the exact same as the previous film. The teaser is set to “Cheek to Cheek,” which Gaga has famously covered in her music career alongside Tony Bennett. At the end, we hear Joaquin’s iconic Joker laugh.

As we earlier reported in June, Gaga was in early talks about the role of Harley Quinn, which is set to be a musical. Director Todd Phillips posted the screenplay’s cover to Instagram on June 7, revealing the Folie à Deux subtitle. The title references a medical term for an identical or similar mental disorder that affects two or more individuals, usually members of the same family. The teaser, however, does not outright confirm Gaga is playing Harley.
