Jane’s Addiction: New Music Could Include Dave Navarro, Other Guitarists
Jane’s Addiction had a big 2022 with a successful tour with the Smashing Pumpkins. However, that tour did have two major hiccups: Perry Farrell injured his back, which resulted in a handful of dates being canceled, and Dave Navarro pulled out of the tour altogether due to dealing with the lingering effects of long COVID.
Despite these obstacles, Jane’s Addiction is looking at a potentially busy 2023 and is working on new music. According to Alternative Press, the band has three new songs that just need the guitar tracks recorded. Farrell told the outlet that in addition to Navarro, the band is “keeping an open invitation” to the three guitarists who stepped in for Navarro on the tour to contribute to those songs. Those three guitarists include Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and Bauhaus’s Daniel Ash.
“I don’t know who will end up recording the guitar tracks, but I’d love to see Dave, Troy, Josh and Daniel contribute — all the guys on the tour that really stuck it out,” said Farrell.
Van Leeuwen appears to be game to record telling Alternative Press, “There’s a connection there, and it’s a no-brainer. I’d like to see what they do with Dave, but if they have a plan, I’m going to show up when I can to be a part of it.”
So far, there’s no timeline for the release of the band’s new music.
