Jane’s Addiction: Josh Klinghoffer Replacing Dave Navarro on Upcoming Tour
Jane’s Addiction has been without guitarist Dave Navarro for months, and it looks like he won’t be returning to the band’s touring schedule any time soon.
Perry Farrell, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins issued a joint statement today (January 27) on the status of Navarro. The statement reads as follows:
“We’d like to address the questions surrounding Dave and the upcoming Jane’s shows. As a band we are in a great place, writing new music, and the bond is tighter than ever. We all hope Dave can be out playing with us;when he feels healthy and ready.
For the near future, our brother Josh Klinghoffer will jump in for the upcoming shows on the West Coast, South America and some additional international shows, soon to be announced. We want to thank you all for being there with us over these thirty some odd years.
You know, we’re going to keep throwing it down for you.”

In September 2022, Navarro pulled out of Jane’s then-upcoming tour with the Smashing Pumpkins due to dealing with effects from long COVID. In December 2022, Farrell told Alternative Press the band has three new songs that just need the guitar tracks recorded. Farrell also told the outlet that in addition to Navarro, the band is “keeping an open invitation” to the three guitarists who stepped in for Navarro on the tour to contribute to those songs. Those three guitarists include Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and Bauhaus’s Daniel Ash.
“I don’t know who will end up recording the guitar tracks, but I’d love to see Dave, Troy, Josh and Daniel contribute — all the guys on the tour that really stuck it out,” said Farrell.
Van Leeuwen appears to be game to record telling Alternative Press, “There’s a connection there, and it’s a no-brainer. I’d like to see what they do with Dave, but if they have a plan, I’m going to show up when I can to be a part of it.”
