Tom Morello Talks New Prophets of Rage Album
Just out as of Friday (September 15) is the self-titled debut album from Prophets Of Rage, the all-star, politically focused group featuring members of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill.
The group began performing during 2016 and toured, and guitarist Tom Morello tells us that while the intent was always to record there was some uncertainty before Prophets actually hit the studio:
“It was a great chemistry we felt on stage during the Make America Rage tour, and we crossed our fingers and hoped that the chemistry carried over into the songwriting room. And it did. We wrote 10 songs in the first two weeks we were playing together, and a month in the studio at Hensen Studios with Brendan O’Brien. It was so exciting, so fun. It’s the most collaborative and fun band record that I’ve been involved in since the first Rage record.”
Prophets is playing a handful of dates in the U.S. and Europe to celebrate the album’s release, with a full tour slated for 2018.
Morello, meanwhile, has a new solo album he plans to release next year as well.
