Dave Grohl, Lzzy Hale & Other Artists Share Messages About Coronavirus Pandemic
With the Coronavirus pandemic shutting nearly the entire music/touring industry down, many artists have taken to social media to express their concerns about COVID-19 and are encouraging their fans to be respectful of others during this time.
Here’s a round-up of notable artist reactions.
Dave Grohl
The Foo Fighters frontman shared the following message via the band’s social media channels: “Hi, this is Dave. Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my goddamn leg was falling off? Well…playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another…We f*ckin’ love you guys. So let’s do this right and rain check sh*t. The album is done and it’s f*ckin’ killer. The lights and stage are in the trucks, ready to go. The SECOND we are given the go ahead, we’ll come tear sh*t up like we always do. Promise. Now go wash your hands. Dave.”
Lzzy Hale
The Halestorm frontwoman shared the following message to fans via Instagram:
“Dear fellow musicians and concert goers:
I understand your need for live music, I understand your need to perform on stage. I’m with you, I have that same primal need, especially in these tough and confusing times. But, it is extremely irresponsible to promote or participate in large gatherings at this time. The whole ‘you can’t scare us’ mentality is ridiculous. The virus is not a terrorist, and it will not be discouraged or impressed by your bravery. This is a pandemic. And by encouraging or attending large gatherings of people you are contributing to the deaths of people who do not have healthy immune systems to fight it. This is someone’s grandparent, someone’s child, someone’s sibling, someone’s mom, dad, or someone’s friend…Don’t be part of the problem. Go lick your toilet seat if you want to prove how ‘unafraid’ you are of viruses…then go be creative, write a song, write a book, practice your instrument, perform via Insta live, discover new music, learn a new skill, watch movies, play card games etc. We are extremely fortunate to live in the age of the internet, where we are able to be social, connect, encourage each other, and keep the ball somewhat rolling until things settle down. It’s important to remember that we are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!…And look forward to when we reach the end of this crisis… OH, WHAT A PARTY IT WILL BE! See you all on the other side!”
Aerosmith
Aerosmith shared the following via Twitter: “#BeatTheVirus – You may have it and not know it. Don’t spread the disease. Stay home as much as you can. Wash your hands often and try to keep 6 feet apart. Now is the time to engage online and not in person. It is not just about you, it’s about us…All of us!”

Paul Stanley
Stanley strongly encouraged followers to practice social distancing by sharing via Twitter, “PLEASE. It may seem surreal. It may seem inconceivable. We are about to see illness, deaths and an overwhelmed hospital system never seen in our lifetime. Businesses are closing. This is NOT an opportunity for get-togethers or parties. SOCIAL DISTANCING IS THE MINIMUM. STAY HOME.”

Brian May
The Queen guitarist shared via Instagram, “Well, look at it this way..we’re all in this together. Thanks, Monty Python. Yes – this is Planet Earth enveloped by CoronaVirus COVID 19. But all things must pass.”
Nikki Sixx
The Motley Crue bassist shared via Instagram, “Wouldn’t it be great to see people stop self-promoting right now and turn towards friends and family instead? Reach out to people around you who might be scared or need help. Also, do we really need more fear-mongering? The news is doing a great job at that already… maybe find a way to dampen down the hysteria.”
