Corey Taylor, Lzzy Hale, Myles Kennedy Lead ‘Rock For Relief’
Some of hard rock and metal’s biggest names will play a online concert this weekend, for a good cause. Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy (who is also the singer in Slash’s solo band) and Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger are among the acts participating in the “Rock for Relief” virtual benefit Friday (July 3). The proceeds of the show will aid Feeding America‘s COVID-19 Response Fund. Alice Cooper and Joe Satriani will conduct interviews during the benefit.
Bush’s Gavin Rossdale, Filter, Starset, 10 Years’ Jesse Hasek, Black Stone Cherry’s Chris Robertson, The Dead Daisies, Atreyu’s Brandon Saller, Dinosaur Pile-Up’s Matt Bigland, are on the lineup, along with classic rockers George Thorogood, Don Felder (formerly of the Eagles), Ricky Byrd (formerly of Joan Jett &. the Blackhearts), Bobby Whitlock (formerly of Derek & The Dominoes) and pop artists Lisa Loeb, Kathy Sledge (of Sister Sledge) and BJ Thomas (who had a hit with “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head”).
Feeding America estimates that an additional 17.1 million people could become food insecure in 2020 as a result of the current COVID-19 crisis. This is a 46 percent increase over the 37.2 million people who were food insecure prior to the start of COVID-19.
Watch the show at 8 pm ET on Friday July 3 here (it repeats again at 11 pm ET).
