I’m a Des Rocs fan girl! There, I said it……Terrie Carr here and turning our listeners on to new DHA rock is one of the greatest aspects of my job.
My new obsession? “Des Rocs’ ……
Now, let me start by saying WDHA DID NOT introduce me to Des Rocs. I discovered him when I saw this completely unknown open for The Rolling Stones back in 2019. An unknown, unmanaged (with no record label) young artist…..WHAT? And he was so impressive! Fast forward to the 2020 pandemic and I hear that the incredible talent I saw in 2019 is putting out a debut record. Let’s talk about Des Rocs!
About Des Rocs- (In 3 paragraphs!)
- Born in Long Island New York as Danny Rocco, Des Rocs was created by Danny- who was influenced by Elvis Presley, Jimmy Hendrix and especially Queen and Freddie Mercury.
- Young Danny began performing in bars in Long Island in his early teens and decided to do music his own way. Something I respect so much! Soon Danny knew that when he performed a sort of alter ego took over and Danny Rocco became Des Rocs. In the interview below, Des Rocs explains his creative process, songwriting, and rock and roll’s power. He also tells me about a chance show that helped land him an opening slot for The Rolling Stones.
- Dream Machine is the second studio release from Des Rocs and it brings 9 SOLID tracks with dynamic, fuzzy, yet memorable crisp riffs and chunky, raw hooks you can sing along to. Danny/Des shows his fantastic songwriting chops too, and a constant touring journey has made him one of the most buzz-worthy artists in rock as he has played monster festivals, opened for bands like Muse, and headlined venues around the country.
