Giants’ Daniel Jones Completely Omitted From Barstool’s Top 32 QBs
Now that the long-anticipated draft is behind us and OTA’s are underway with the 2024 versions of each NFL team, Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take Show compiled a ranking of the top quarterbacks heading into next season. Two things jumped out at me upon the initial viewing. The first was that I actually fully agreed with the top four, and second: Giants’ QB Daniel Jones was nowhere to be found. See their Instagram post here.
In fact, the Giants were the only team that did not have representation at all here. There’s another layer to the disregard of Jones and the Giants here. PMT only listed 31 QBs.
Let me break this open for a minute and point out the obvious. When you look at the list below there is no 25th ranked player. It goes from Derek Carr of the New Orleans Saints at 24 to Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears at 26.
Now, you know Barstool has mastered having humor and sarcasm injected into every form of content they put out. They are also notoriously casual, which means they are okay with publishing or posting without everything being grammatically perfect. In other words, if you are just peaking at the list, it’s fair to think perhaps missing the 25th was just an accident.
Why Was Giants’ QB Daniel Jones Nowhere To Be Found?
Quarterbacks who have not played a NFL snap yet are in this ranking. Rookies who just had their names called by Commissioner Roger Goodell are ranked higher than Daniel Jones.
Humor aside for a moment, is leaving Jones out completely warranted? Earlier this offseason there were a ton of rumors swirling that Jones’ days in New York were done. He’s been injured so often, and just tore up his knee vs. Las Vegas last season. The GMen did a ton of work studying all the QB’s who actually made Barstool’s list but ultimately did not select one. They were, however, very interested in Drake Maye.
So here we are. One of the most acclaimed franchises in the NFL is entering its 100th season. It’s one in which they have put a ton of marketing behind, even creating outrageous red and gold uniforms, and their QB is a giant mystery.
The good news for Jones is that being the QB on the only team not to be represented on top QB list can be interpreted as hitting the bottom, which means maybe there is no place to go but up. Yesterday, ESPN Giants’ reporter Jordan Raanan said that the team’s first-round pick, receiver Malik Nabers looked “legit.” Perhaps having a number one target of that caliber will help Jones prove to PMT that he deserves that #25 spot (or any) on their ranking.
