New Data Finds Those In The Dating Scene Might Need A Purpose

Valentine’s Day is approaching fast.  Many of us are looking for love or even just looking for a date.  It can be hard.  So many people try dating apps.  There’s speed-dating, matchmakers, and just hitting the bar or nightclub to hopefully find our soulmate. But if you want more dates, new data finds that you might need a purpose. What I’m specifically referring to is working on yourself before you can find someone else.  Someone to love, get married to or grow old with.  There’s a recent study from  Washington University that found that having a clear purpose in life makes you more attractive. Turns out it’s not just physical looks or nice shoes. LOL  There’s more to it than that Researchers looked at profiles on dating apps and determined that those that showed the person had a clear sense of purpose and direction were rated higher than those that didn’t  Pretty interesting right?  You think it always comes down to body type or eye color or hair.  When in reality there’s so much more that a person can find appealing about you!  For the study, the goals were put in four categories: -helping others -goals centered around family and finding a romantic partner -making money -goals focused on creativity and originality “In general we found people with a higher purpose were considered to be more romantically attractive,” said study co-author Professor Isabella D’Ottone. Of course, people were more attracted to others whose purpose was similar to their own.  Financial drive, however, didn’t necessarily rank as high as others unless they were also financially motivated.  This is interesting because we always think money is so important in landing your next significant other. So there you have it.  Do a little work on yourself and figure out what your goals in life are.  What is your purpose and what drives you?  Heck, it may lead to someone wanting to be your Valentine!   [select-listicle listicle_id="721190" syndication_name="avoid-these-first-date-fails-14-worst-places-to-go" description="yes"]
