WDHA's Queens Of Noise

Terrie Carr here and I am excited to bring the Queens Of Noise BACK to WDHA Fridays at 2p for the fall season!
It’s so inspiring to highlight women who have made and are making music to move us, make us move and melt our faces off! It’s also a great opportunity to check out some killer NEW tunes and considering there are so many great Queens giving us new tunes and sounds, I wanted to highlight five new tunes from women who rock! Rockers you may know AND rockers you may not. I’m loving this list of five because not only did I include a LEGEND, a few metal goddesses, an instrumentalist with an amazing guest vocalist but I also have a brand NEW band that I’m sure you haven’t heard of.
The Queens Of Noise has been one of WDHA’s most popular shows as the station has always been a supporter of loud ladies, and our listeners are always supportive, engaged and vocal about their favorites!
Btw- Huge thanks to Zou Zou Mausour of Soraia for stopping by our first show back last week to spin some tunes including the bands cover version of “Black Magic Woman” which is perfection.

And our first playlist back!
I’m so energized to turn people on to new music and having such a large pool of women who are bringing it energizes me even more. And as always I appreciate the feedback you bring to the Queens Of Noise show, so please hit me up with your suggestions and artists you feel passionate about.

Facebook can be a tough nut as I get so many messages I rarely have time to check so email is always best.
Tune in for the next few Fridays this fall as we salute the Women In Rock on the Queens Of Noise and I hope you dig these 5 new tunes from women who ROCK!

  • Ann Wilson (& Tripsitter) - This Is Now

Rock legend and Heart vocalist Ann Wilson has a great band behind her (Tripsitter) and is back with the release of “Another Door”- Tripsitter features Tony Lucido(bass), Ryan Wariner (guitars), Sean T. Lane (drums), Paul Moak (guitars and keyboards) and Tom Bukovac (guitars) and Ann was the sole lyricist on this record. Her legendary voice is ageless, timeless and this record is a gift for sure.

  • Spiritbox- Cellar Door

We need more women in METAL! And Courtney LaPlante is one of the most compelling people in the metal scene today. The band has a new EP release “The Fear Of The Fear” out November 3rd and “Cellar Door” is explosive!

If you caught the band opening for Shinedown and Papa Roach at Prudential Center you know their power!

  • Nita Strauss (Featuring Lilith Czar)- Monster

Perfect for October! Hurricane Nita Strauss is such a monster player and teaming her with different amazing rock voices on “Into The Void” is a brilliant showcasing of her talents. You’ve heard her with David Draiman (Dead Inside) , Dorothy (Victorious) and this tune with Lilith Czar is one of my favorites off of the record. Lilith has such a unique quality that gives us a taste of everything (Metal, Rock, Pop…) and these two powerhouses are dynamic together.

Check out Nita opening for Mammoth WVH in Jersey 11/17- and her website Nita Strauss

  • The Gems- Send Me To The Wolves

Holy —-t! This is GREAT!  Former members of the band “Thundermother” (I was bummed when they broke up, they were so good, opening recently for The Scorpions) The Gems give us a heavy, bluesy, groove sound reminiscent of Zeppelin and this power trio out of Sweden consisting of Guernica Mancini (vocals), Emlee Johansson (drums) and Mona Lindgren (bass) is just what hard rock needs.

  • New Years Day- Vampyre

Ash Costello and her amazing Universe of sound and sight is such a blast and I love to see where this band goes. They ROCK HARD and bring the heavy!

The band hits The Hammerstein in NYC on November 27th with In This Moment and Ice Nine Kills so if you are heading to the show get there early and let them kick your ASH!
