Time for a music review of a great album that came out last Friday.
If you saw my list of Hard Rock and Metal albums that were released, you most likely noticed there was a new one from The Used coming out called Toxic Positivity.
Well, I had some time to sit with it and digest it and I have to say……it’s really something special. I hate to make comparisons of what other Used albums sound like, so I’ll just put it this way – It feels like it has that same raw emotion that they captured on their exceptional debut.
Vocalist Bert McCracken seems angry, disillusioned, and in desperate need of change……..and that makes for some heavy lyrics and emotional singing!
There are quite a number of moments that have an electronic element, so if you’re not into that, you might be a little put-off. But I think as a whole this album works and is another great selling point.
It’s only 30 minutes in runtime. You can easily sit down or get in the car and pop this in and be finished in a half an hour drive, which I like. Not that I mean long musical journeys at all, but sometimes it’s nice to get the full feel of an album in one sitting that is easily doable in a car ride.
Check out a few highlights!
