Check Out The New John Bonham Memorial Statue!
A years-long campaign started by John Bonham’s sister, Denise, has finally resulted in a stunning memorial statue that was unveiled yesterday (May 31) on what would have been Bonham’s 70th birthday.
The permanent statue is located in the town square of Redditch, England, where Bonham was born. The massive memorial shows Bonzo behind a drum kit on one side, while the other side features his Led Zeppelin IV symbol and the following inscription:
“The most outstanding and original drummer of his time, John Bonham’s popularity and influence continue to resonate within the world of music and beyond.”
The statue was designed by Mark Richards who share photos of the statue via his Twitter account. Robert Plant also shared an image of the statue as well.
Delighted that my memorial sculpture to John Bonham was installed over night in Redditch town centre. Thanks to all who helped make this happen. #johnbonham #johnbonhammemorial #johnbonhambirthday #redditch pic.twitter.com/VG3HOr2ubl
