Daniel Craig To Be Honored At The Montclair Film Festival
Agent 007 will be heading to New Jersey for the Montclair Film Festival as a special celebrity guest. Daniel Craig will be honored at the festival and will be interviewed in front of an audience with Montclair resident Stephen Colbert. The tribute to the James Bond actor is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at NJPAC in Newark.
Craig’s newest film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will open the 11th Montclair Film Festival Friday, Oct. 21 at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair. The film is a sequel to director Rian Johnson’s 2019 Oscar-nominated film Knives Out. Craig will be reprising his role as Det. Benoit Blanc in the new film. This time, the story is set in Greece. Glass Onion premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday (Sept. 10) and will be released in theaters for a limited time before making streaming on Netflix on Dec. 23.
Netflix describes the plot as: “A mysterious set of invitations, a reclusive millionaire’s private island and a wealthy set of friends tie it all together. Oh, and there’s the small matter of that mysterious death.”
Co-starring with Craig are Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, and Kate Hudson.
Johnson spoke about how Glass Onion came about per IndieWire: “I was writing [Glass Onion] during the lockdown of 2020, and I wanted to be on a beach vacation more than anything.”
He added: “So much of why I’m so into making these is that they just bring me an intense amount of joy. Working with Daniel in this genre and having fun with it and the humor, getting to work with a new group of actors every time, everything about it just brings me happiness.”
Tickets for the Craig event are available starting 10 a.m. Sept. 14 for Montclair Film members. Public sales are 10 a.m. Sept. 17; njpac.org and ticketmaster.com. Tickets for the “Glass Onion” screening will be on sale Oct. 3 for members and Oct. 7 for the public.
