Slipknot: Jay Weinberg Says He Was Fired, Receives Support From Other Drummers
Jay Weinberg broke his silence over the weekend about parting ways with Slipknot. According to the drummer, he was fired from the band.
Weinberg issued a lengthy statement via social media detailing his thoughts on the entire situation. Weinberg wrote, in part, “I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after. However, I’ve been overwhelmed by — and truly grateful for — the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home.”

Life is hills and valleys and you’ve climbed the mountain to the top. It’s what makes us grateful and as a journeyman drummer myself more will be revealed!! The future is bright for you and all of us, can’t wait to see the next adventure !! Rock on Brother.”
Meanwhile, Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy wrote, “This is only the end of one chapter…you have MANY MORE to write Bro! Always have your back.”
Green Day’s Tre Cool added, “I have so much admiration and respect for you, Jay. You are still yet to make the best music of your life. You are young. The future is yours for the taking and I’m excited to see what you bring into to the world next! You’re truly a special drummer.”
Even Jay’s dad, E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, wrote, “For 33 years you’ve made your mom and I 100% proud. This moment is no exception. You’re a class act! Love Dad.”
