Playing in the Olympics is a thrill, and for NJ’s Patrick Kivlehan playing for the USA was something he will never forget.
The 2024 Summer Olympics are underway in Paris and though baseball isn’t part of the event, back in 2021 Patrick helped bring home a silver medal in baseball for the United States.
Patrick played both baseball and football at St. Joseph’s Regional High School in Montvale before heading to Rutgers where he played football for four years.
During his senior year, Patrick decided to give baseball a shot and he ultimately was named Big East Player of the Year and was drafted by the Seattle Mariners.
Patrick played four seasons in the MLB and has had some amazing experiences in baseball, but it’s tough to find something that compares with wearing the uniform of your country and competing on the world stage.
This morning on Jersey Magazine, Jim Monaghan and Patrick talk about the Olympic experience, playing for your country, and more.
