Today is a special day for me. We celebrate one of my favorite sandwiches – the Grilled Cheese!  So simple, yet so delicious. It’s easy to make and there are all sorts of variations that keep it at the top of the list for foodies.

Before we get to where you can find some of the best in the area. Let’s go over some questions you need to ask yourself when wither making or ordering one:

  • What cheese or cheeses do you prefer on your grilled cheese sandwich?
  • What’s the best bread for a grilled cheese sandwich?
  • What goes best with a grilled cheese sandwich?  From drinks to side dishes.
  • Does mayo ever belong on grilled cheese? Tomato? Bacon?

Here are a few places you need to try for an amazing grilled cheese.  Let me know if you have another spot that you prefer for this incredible sandwich.

THE COMMITTED PIG in Morristown : FIG-N-BRIE Grilled Cheese

It might sound a little fancy….and maybe it is.  But it’s also tasty as all get out.

Made with creamy brie cheese, and fig preserves, and served with fries. That salty and sweet flavor is hard to beat!

GRILLED CHEESE AT THE MELT FACTORY in Morristown: CHEESY MAC N RIB

Pulled Pork and Mac and Cheese.  Enough said. Sooooo good. Plus, it was only $7.95.  That’s value and incredible taste wrapped up into one.

TIFF’S in Morris Plains: SHORT RIB GRILLED CHEESE

If you like your Grilled Cheese simple and ordinary this isn’t for you.  But if you like it packed with flavor, dig this…..

It’s made with Braised short ribs, cheddar, Swiss, garlic aioli, roasted tomato, and red onions and served on pressed Texas toast.  Yep, it’s out of this world!

GRILLED CHEESE AT THE MELT FACTORY in Morristown: Jersey Special

I know this place is on my list twice, but they have so many types to try!

This one is for us Garden State folk. Whether you call it Pork Roll or Taylor Ham, it doesn’t matter - this sandwich is a treat. With Taylor ham and American cheese, it’s a Grilled Cheese sandwich you’ll want two of!
