Clampdown is a politically charged punk rock song that was released by The Clash in 1979 on their album, London Calling. Commander Kyle M tops the list with his request for Bring The Noise by Anthrax and Public Enemy. Congrats to the Knicks!!! Finally!! Bring the Noise is a groundbreaking collaboration between the thrash metal band Anthrax and the hip-hop group Public Enemy. The song was released in 1987 as a single and later included on Anthrax’s fourth studio album, State of Euphoria. Bring the Noise was a critical and commercial success, and it is often cited as one of the most important songs in the history of rap-rock crossover. The song begins with a sample of Chuck D’s vocals from Public Enemy’s Rebel Without a Pause, before launching into a frenzied guitar riff and a pounding beat. Bring the Noise was also groundbreaking for its use of sampling. The song’s opening sample of Chuck D’s vocals was just one example of the innovative ways in which the song blended elements of hip-hop and heavy metal. Anthrax’s guitarist, Scott Ian, was a fan of hip-hop and had been incorporating samples into the band’s music for some time. But Bring the Noise took that approach to a whole new level, with its use of samples and breakbeats. The collaboration between Anthrax and Public Enemy was a groundbreaking moment in music history, and Bring the Noise remains a powerful and influential song more than three decades after its release.
