BYRON BAY, AUSTRALIA - JULY 22: Josh Homme of Queens of The Stone Age performs during Splendour in the Grass 2017 on July 22, 2017 in Byron Bay, Australia.

Today we take a look at the brand-spankin’ new album from Queens of The Stone Age, “In Times New Roman…”
It’s their heaviest and most angry sounding record in a while, maybe of their whole catalog. But trust me, it’s got those poppy melodies that make QOTSA so infectious.
Frontman Josh Homme has been through a bunch of rough stuff over the last few years-and I feel like you can hear it on this album. It’s so good, with the same high quality production of their previous woks. It sounds clean, full, and rockin’. A beautiful blend!
There are some moments on here which can kind of surprise you or catch you off guard. But overall it’s an in your face laid back but heavy rockin’ Queens record.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights!

  • OBSCENERY

This one has some clever lyrics and some really killer grooves throughout. Check out the cool drumbeats and catchy hook!

  • NEGATIVE SPACE

It’s like if CKY and Pink Floyd had a child.  Not sure what that means?  Take a listen!

  • MADE TO PARADE

It kicks off with a dirty guitar riff, that’s almost sludgy and then the chorus brightens things up and leaves you humming along until it’s back into 2nd verse.  So innovative and infectious

  • EMOTION SICKNESS

Homme opens this one up with his vocals and then a heavily distorted  but nasty riff comes in and slaps you.  Catchy with a big hook right off the bat!

  • STRAIGHT JACKET FITTING

This one has the feel of an old classic rocker.  Just beefed up with more strange sounds and elements.  So hypnotic!!
