Check out Incubus at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, August 29th!

Formed in Calabasas, California in 1991, Incubus is made up of vocalist Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einzinger, drummer José Pasillas, bassist Ben Kenney, and DJ Chris Kilmore. Kenney and Kilmore came in to replace original members Alex “Dirk Lance” Katunich and Gavin “DJ Lyfe” Koppell in 2003 and 1998 respectively.

Incubus first released music in 1995 with the EP Let Me Tell Ya ‘Bout Root Beer which was quickly followed by their debut album Fungus Amongus, both of which were on the band’s own label Stopuglynaillfungus Music. The band was signed to Sony’s Immortal, now Epic Records the following year and released the EP Enjoy Incubus in 1997, followed by their second full length album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. which led into them touring with bands like Korn, 311, and System of a Down, as well as participating in Ozzfest.

Incubus’s third album Make Yourself (1999) would go on to be the band’s true big break, becoming certified double Platinum by the RIAA and contained their massive hit “Drive” and their song that truly brought them onto the radio “Pardon Me”. In 2001, Incubus released the even more successful Morning View which has arguably their second biggest hit “Wish You Were Here”, peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 charts, and was also certified double Platinum.

The following album A Crow Left of the Murder (2004) was a similar success, climbing the international charts, and is considered the second-best album from Incubus by both Boyd and the Kerrang! media outlet. At this point the band had started to really push away from their heavier sound that led to them touring with bands like Korn and more into touring with bands like Brand New and Hundred Reasons.

Continuing their success, the band released Light Grenades in 2006, followed by a brief break prior to a summer headlining tour in 2009. After returning and touring for some time, the band released 2011’s If Not Now, When? and followed by 2015’s EP Trust Fall (Side A), 2017’s 8, and 2020’s Trust Fall (Side B). Incubus continues to tour despite Kenney needing to sit out in 2023 to recover from the removal of a brain tumor and will be releasing a re-recorded version of Morning View titled Morning View XXIII later this year.
