Remembering Bob Newhart: WDHA Morning Jolt Interview From 2017
We lost a television and comedy legend yesterday Bob Newhart who died at his Los Angeles home at the age of 94 after what was described by his publicist as a “series of short illnesses.”
Though often compared to Don Rickles, Newhart had a very unique style and was considered the king of deadpan comedy, over a career that spanned more than six decades, beginning with his first comedy album in 1960, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart.
Among his many television appearances, Bob was also the star of The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 to 1978 . . . and then Newhart from 1982 to 1990.
The final scene of the latter is one of the all-time great moments in sitcom television history.
Newhart also appeared on shows like Desperate Housewives, The Big Bang Theory, ER, and Hot in Cleveland.
Back in 2017, he was a guest here on the WDHA Morning Jolt with Jim Monaghan when he called in to talk about an upcoming appearance on The Big Bang Theory.
