Listen to Mike Anthony all week from 3pm to 7pm for your chance to win a pair of tickets to Limp Bizkit on Tuesday, July 30th!

American nu metal band Limp Bizkit was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in the early nineties. You would be hard pressed to find someone in a crowd who didn’t have an opinion on this band – one way or another. Between lead vocalist Fred Durst’s angry delivery of his lyrics to Wes Borland’s masks, uniforms, and face and body painting, Limp Bizkit has created a spectacle that nobody can look away from.

The lineup consists of vocalist Fred Durst, John Otto, Wes Borland, DJ Lethal, and Sam Rivers. The band got their start in 1994 performing in the Florida underground scene, where they garnered a cult following. Their debut album, Three Dollar Bill, Y’all was released in 1997 to huge success.

Their music, alongside their controversial performances at Woodstock ‘99 and 2001 Big Day Out Festival, has led to mixed reception of the band’s music as a whole. During their performance of “Break Stuff” at Woodstock ‘99 to an audience of 200,000 is said to have insighted violence and riots, although many sources claim that the anger and violence was already present at the festival, far before Limp Bizkit took the stage.

Limp Bizkit has sold over 40 million records that span across their six studio albums. Some of their biggest hits include “Break Stuff,” “Rollin’,” “Nookie,” and “Livin’ It Up,” the latter of which has a cameo by acclaimed actor Ben Stiller. Limp Bizkit also covered The Who’s 1971 single “Behind Blue Eyes” which, alongside the previous songs mentioned, charted in the Top 20 of the Alternative Airplay.

Lead singer of the band, Fred Durst, has also been featured in several films of the late nineties and early 2000s, as well as two video games; WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It and WWF Raw as a hidden character. His song “Rollin’” was featured in the games as well, after famed wrestler The Undertaker used the song as his entrance to the arena.

Limp Bizkit has been nominated for three Grammys and has won several awards and accolades throughout the years. Their fusion of nu metal, rap, and post-grunge, among several other genres, has created a dedicated fanbase of “Bizkit-heads.”
