Check out BEAT: Belew/Vai/Levin/Carey play 80s King Crimson at the F.M. Kirby Center for Performing Arts in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, December 4th!

One of the most relevant progressive rock groups of all time, King Crimson, is a band that still captures the attention of rock fans everywhere. Since their start in 1968, the band has been known for using varying genres throughout their music, ranging from rock to folk or classical. King Crimson released thirteen albums from the years of 1969 all the way until 2003, including some of their most popular ones such as In the Court of the Crimson King (1969), In the Wake of Poseidon (1970), and Larks’ Tongues in Aspic (1973). Throughout the years, the band has inspired the creation of new acts to follow in their footsteps, one of the most monumental being BEAT. BEAT is a King Crimson tribute band that focuses on the band’s albums during the 1980s: Discipline (1981), Beat (1982), and Three of a Perfect Pair (1984). BEAT is made up of former King Crimson band members Adrien Belew and Tony Levin, Danny Carey from Tool and master guitarist Steve Vai. Adrien Belew is the lead vocalist for the group and plays the guitar. He has had experience playing in other groups, such as Talking Heads, and has even played with David Bowie. On the bass guitar is Tony Levin, who has played with notable acts such as Stevie Nicks, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Paul Simon, Lou Reed, and John Lennon. Danny Carey is the drummer who has played on albums for artists including Adrien Belew while solo, Carole King, Pigface, etc. Finally, Steve Vai is a guitarist for BEAT, has won three Grammy awards, and has recorded and toured with major acts such as Alice Cooper, Spinal Tap, Mary J. Blige, Motörhead, David Lee, Roth, and more. What separates BEAT from any other King Crimson tribute band is that, not only does the group include two former members, but their band name was even thought up by Robert Fripp himself who supported the group from the start. This group does an amazing job covering some of King Crimson’s most popular songs from the 80’s, as well as creating an authentic concert experience for those who truly love classic rock.
