Check out Brian Regan at the State Theater New Jersey on Sunday, October 6th!

Stand-up comedian Brian Regan was born in 1958 in Miami, Florida and got his start in the 1980’s. Brian specializes in observational, sarcastic, and self-deprecating humor while still maintaining a relatively clean show, avoiding profanity and subjects he deems too taboo. Typically, he turns every day, mundane events like shipping things with UPS into pure comedy and often references back to childhood events like spelling bees and little league. Dropping out of school in 1980, Brian Regan began to pursue doing stand-up comedy full time after one of his high school coaches saw a routine and encouraged him to run with it. He worked his way through the circuit, performing at clubs, bars and anywhere he could until finally making his TV debut on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1991. Brian Regan continued his career, releasing his first album Brian Regan Live in 1997. He followed this with a self-released DVD titled I Walked on the Moon in 2004 that was filmed at the Irvine Improv. That same year, he was a featured comedian on Shorties Watchin’ Shorties, a Comedy Central TV show that animated short clips of a comedian’s stand-up routines with commentary by babies voiced by Nick DiPaolo and the late Patrice O’Neal. In 2007, Brian Regan had his first one-hour special aired on Comedy Central titled Standing Up, which was quickly followed by his second, The Epitome of Hyperbole, released in 2008. Two years later, he released the CD All By Myself as an exclusive item available on his website. Brian Regan was a featured guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee in 2012 and again in 2018, making him one of the few comedians to make a return appearance to the show. Two years later, he made his feature film debut in Chris Rock’s Top Five (2014) after Rock saw one of his stand-up sets. In 2015 he made his 28th and final appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman. The same year, he did the first ever live special on Comedy Central titled Brian Regan: Live from Radio City Music Hall. The live special would eventually be released early the following year. Brian Regan moved on to take a regular role as Mugsy in the Loudermilk TV series starting in 2017 to much acclaim and even receiving high praise from the series’ creator Peter Farrelly. Also in 2017, he released a new stand-up special on Netflix titled Nunchucks and Flamethrowers which was followed by 2018’s Standup and Away! With Brian Regan. Most recently he has released the 2021 Netflix special On the Rocks. Tickets are on sale at stnj.org. Check out 15 of our favorite quotes from the timeless comedy My Cousin Vinny HERE!
