The American rock band Stone Temple Pilots was initially formed in San Diego, California, in 1989. The band’s members consisted of Scott Weiland, Eric Kretz, and brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo. Their debut album, Core, which was released in 1992 was a commercial hit. The album peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Albums Chart. This release kickstarted their career and they were named one of the most successful bands in the 1990s. Stone Temple Pilots started to headline tour with acts like Rage Against the Machine and Megadeth in 1993.

They released four more albums within six years, including Purple (1994) which charted at number 1 in the United States, Tiny Music… Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop (1996), No. 4 (1999), and Shangri-La Dee Da (2Later in 2010, they released a self-titled album peaking at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. After touring and performing at festivals for the past couple of years, they released their eighth album, Perdida, in 2020. Now in 2024, they are touring the United States with Live this summer.  

LIVE is and American rock band that was formed in York, Pennsylvania, in 1984. The four founding members were Ed Kowalczyk, Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Gracey, and Chad Taylor, but currently only Kowalczyk remains in the band. They started off their career with a self-released cassette titled The Death of a Dictionary in 1989 quickly followed by a demo EP Divided Mind, Divided Planet the next year. These releases, along with their regular appearances at New York’s CBGB, earned them a record contract. The single titled “Operation Spirit (The Tyranny of Tradition)” peaked at number 9 on the Modern Rock charts, which was followed by their album Mental Jewelry in 1991.

LIVE then appeared at Woodstock ‘94, on the MTV 120 Minutes Tour, and on Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD tour. Gaining much success from their performances, their third album, Throwing Copper, became a mainstream hit. The single “Lightning Crashes” stayed on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for ten consecutive weeks and topped the Billboard 200 chart, making it one of their most successful tracks. They later had two hit singles, “The Dolphins Cry” and “Heaven” that appeared on the U.S. Hot 100. Further in their career, they embarked on the Summerland Tour 2013, where they played 35 shows across the US. Now in 2024, LIVE is on tour with Stone Temple Pilots performing around the United States this summer.
