Check out WDHA Presents: Sevendust at the Palladium Times Square on Thursday, September 19th!

Sevendust is an American rock band formed in 1994 by bass guitarist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose, and John Connolly on the guitar. A year into the formation, vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and lead guitarist Clint Lowey joined the group. Sevendust released their self-titled debut album in April of 1997 which went gold two years later. The album contains “Black”, one of the band’s biggest songs to date, as well as “My Ruin” which was featured on the 1996 Mortal Kombat: More Kombat, a compilation of tracks inspired by the first film. The album was on the Billboard 200 chart for 16 total weeks after its release, peaking at 165 on the chart. Following the debut release, Sevendust performed at events like Dynamo Open Air and Ozzfest in 1998, as well as touring extensively, leading to the 6-track video album Live and Loud at the end of 1998. The rapid success of the album and their touring led to their second album Home (1999) performing exponentially better. Home features Sevendust’s most-played song live, the lead single “Denial” as well as another popular single in “Waffle”. The album ended up peaking at 19 on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as landing on charts in New Zealand and Australia, and ended up certified gold. The band’s third album Animosity was released in 2001, becoming their third consecutive gold record and pushed the band to true commercial success with the singles “Praise” and “Angel’s Son”. Sevendust’s 2003 album Seasons debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming one of the band’s best received albums. The album features the track “Enemy”, which peaked at number 10 on the Mainstream Rock Chart and became the theme song for WWE Unforgiven 2003. At the end of 2004, Lowery left the band to play in a band with his brother. While he would eventually return in early 2008, the band continued, releasing Next (2005), Alpha (2007), and Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow (2008) with Sonny Mayo on rhythm guitar. These albums all did exceptionally well, including “Pieces” off Next appearing in Saw II and “Driven” from Alpha absolutely dominating the Hot Mainstream Rock chart and, along with “Feed” from the album, being used in the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 soundtrack. Sevendust released their eighth studio album Cold Day Memory in 2010 which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart and had success with its single “Unraveling” as well as with “Forever” and “Last Breath”. Their follow up, 2013’s Black Out the Sun did extremely well commercially, landing in the top 10 on four different charts in the US, including topping the Hard Rock Albums chart. The following year they released the acoustic album Time Travelers & Bonfires which contained an acoustic version of “Black” amongst other fan favorite tracks. Kill the Flaw was released in 2015 and was met with considerable success. The album debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart, and it’s lead single “Thank You” earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. In 2018 Sevendust released All I See Is War, followed by Blood & Stone in the end of 2020. The latter of which contained a cover of Soundgarden’s “The Day I Tried to Live”, a tribute to the late Chris Cornell, which was met with extreme success. Most recently, the band released Truth Killer in July of 2023, the announcement of which came just weeks before their performance at WDHA’s Rock the Rock Fest 2023. The album was met with the success that has become normal for the band, landing at number 3 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. Now, the band is going out on the road to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Seasons. Tickets are available this now at palladiumtimessquare.com.
