TC with Zakk Wylde - The Pride of Jackson NJ - And one of our New Jersey Metal Kings

The NICE list continues! Recently I posted a story about some of the nicest rockers in the biz that created a lot of buzz and interest with our listeners. Check it out below.

A Dozen Of The Notoriously Nicest Artists In Rock

Nice – Who Gets On The List?

Artists who I have personally experienced, who have a reputation for being real, and who have on more than one occasion impressed me with their ability to connect on a genuine, human level.  It’s very easy when interviewing to tell authenticity. It’s just you and the artist, and a connection,n or lack of one is pretty immediate.

I also observe how they treat the people around them. Fans, venue staff, their crew, our crew.  My initial list came about when I was thinking about how many awesome people I have met through the years. After I posted my initial list, I remembered how many people I left out! Then after I saw how many listeners wanted to see who was on “the nice list” I decided to do a part 2.

Is There A Naughty List?

I’m happy to report that in all of my years on the radio, my naughty list is VERY, VERY small. I probably can only think of one or two. Those I will save for my book!

  • 1. Warren Haynes

    Warren

Warren Haynes and TC Rock the Park 1994 at Echo Lake Park in Kenilworth

From my initial meeting with him in the early 1990’s, to his Gov’t Mule In Studio appearances (some with the late Allen Woody) to Allman’s shows, interviews, you name it, there is no one more talented and more genuine than the amazing Warren Haynes.

  • 2. Jacoby Shaddix

    Jacoby Shaddix

Jacoby is simply a really good guy. Positive, family and fan driven and always striving to do better and be better. He is consistently amazing to interview, LOVES his animals too and prides himself on positivity.

  • 3. Plush

    Plush

From the moment I first interviewed the band in 2020, I was a fan. Not only of their talent, but their humble nature and outgoing amazing personalities. They are always fantastic and so professional to work with. When our staffer Thomas was battling cancer and bummed he wasn’t able to see them at Rock The Rock Fest, they sent him some autographed merch and made him a video to cheer him up. It worked. Thanks ladies.

  • 4. Gavin Rossdale

    G1

I had to include Gavin on the list, because I have interviewed him since the 90’s and even hosted a nationally syndicated Bush radio special and he is always so lovely to deal with and SO FUNNY! He probably doesn’t remember, but a few years back, I hosted a radio special and we kept cracking up because he was cracking jokes! He’s also spoken with me about rescue animals many times, with such a genuine interest. Genuine, and very real. (Ok and gorgeous too…..)

  • 5. Chris Cornell

    Chris Cornell

I have had multiple encounters with Mr. Cornell and what a gentleman he was. I interviewed him in person, at multiple stations, on the phone and for the Soundgarden 25th Anniversary of Badmotorfinger for a nationally syndicated radio special and every single time he was so giving, generous with his time, stories and talents, Chris was just the best. Humble too. Sometimes he just couldn’t grasp a question about his incredible talent. He downplayed it. Never once full of himself. Never. He even had items from the Project Revolution tour he was on sent to me to give a sick fan. I miss speaking with him. Such a gentle soul.

  • 6. Zakk Wylde

    Zakk Wylde

Zakk Wylde is a favorite guest of mine. A Jersey brother- There is no one like Father Zakk-

There is nobody more fun to chat with than the New Jersey Metal Teddy Bear! Zakk Wylde- Zakk views his fans as “brothers and sisters” and has chapters all over the planet. I adore Zakk, he has you laughing within a minute, never forgets where he came from, loves giving others accolades and adores his dogs! One of my favorite Jersey peeps ever.

  • 7. Jason Bonham

    JB
Jason is a new buddy to WDHA (although he was at the station in the early 1990’s), and when he came in recently was AMAZING to everyone he met. Stopped into offices, spent time with MY BOSS (boy did I look good!) and chatted about every Zeppelin story, fill and John Bonham memory that anyone wanted to throw his way. Jason was an open book in our interview and was one of the most gracious artists ever, thanking me over and over for having him and his son Jager Henry on the show.
