UNLPLUGGED! And ready to rock- This Thursday – Thanksgiving Day from 6a-6p!
It’s Terrie Carr and we are honored once again to bring you our Annual “WDHA UNPLUGGED THANKSGIVING
The WDHA Unplugged Thanksgiving History
We began “pulling the plug” in the 1990’s, as we decided to kick off the holiday season with something different on WDHA. At the time, we pulled music from our growing WDHA in-studio performance library and the few band “unplugged” recordings that we had. Fast forward 30-plus years later, we are PACKED with amazing scaled-down versions of rock classics, new artists, WDHA exclusives from our studios, appearances, parking lot parties, and artist archives. It’s always a phenomenal day. WDHA has had so many EPIC performances and we are thrilled to share them over and over with our listeners.
We Don’t Forget The Thanksgiving Classic- Alice’s Restaurant
We serve up Alice’s Restaurant THREE times on Thanksgiving Day
- 6a – As You Wake Up….
- Noon- When You Are Cooking….
- 5p- When You Digest…….
The connection between the classic Arlo Guthrie song and the holiday is…
Arlo recalls events that took place in 1965 (two years before the time of the original recording), when he and a friend spent Thanksgiving Day at a deconsecrated church on the outskirts of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, which their friends Alice and Ray Brock had been using as a home.
It was sad to hear the original “Alice” passed away this week too- At the age of 83- Rest In Peace!
