So while most of us are consumed by American football this Thanksgiving Day holiday, there is this thing called the World Cup that has soccer mavens … excuse me … futbol mavens across the planet are going bonkers.

The United State and England renewed their storied rivalry on Friday afternoon in a match that ended in a 0-0 tie.

The United States out-shot England 10-8, even though the Brits had more shots on goal 3-1. Still, neither team scored.

England is now 1-0-1 in the tournament, while the US is 0-0-2. The States will need to beat Iran on Tuesday if they want to advance. In case you are curious, Iran beat Wales 2-0.

Of course, the reaction online was … well … interesting.

To sum it up, people in England are devastated. People in the US are pleased it ended in a tie, and now back to the NFL and college football.
