105.5 WDHA is celebrating Guitar Month this month and we are giving away autographed guitars from different artist and bands. Commander Jeff K won the Candlebox guitar today! Congratulations Commander! now you have to learn how to play it and perform for the Rockturnal Brigade or you have to return it. LOL!!! Just kidding. Enjoy!!  Commander Jeff k requested a DBL Shot of Candlebox in celebration  for his big win and I obliged.

The first track was Cover Me.”Candlebox” is a rock band from Seattle, known for their grunge-inspired sound and emotionally-charged lyrics. Cover Me is a song that speaks to the feeling of vulnerability and the need for protection that we all experience at some point in our lives. “Cover Me” was a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and cementing Candlebox’s place in the grunge scene.

The second track in this Candlebox Double play was Vexatious its from their 2016 album Disappearing In Airports.  Lead singer Kevin Martin says that Vexatious is about Social Media addiction, an Unlimited bragging rights society, People who take 50 or more selfies in a minute, Dating Apps, and secret sharing apps. It’s Apps Apps Apps! And that people do not need to go to concerts anymore when they can watch em on Youtube. From the opening guitar riffs to the powerful vocals, Vexatious is a powerful track that immediately grabs the your attention and doesn’t let go.  Great Job Commander Jeff K in Clark. You made it just in time Commander Ann M! And your awesome Dbl Play request lands you at #4! The first track in the Missing Persons Dbl Play was Words. It  is a new wave classic that has stood the test of time since its release in 1982. The song features lead singer Dale Bozzio’s distinct and memorable vocals, along with catchy synth hooks and a driving beat that represents the New Wave  genre.

The second track was Walking In LA. “Walking in LA” by Missing Persons is a new wave classic that captures the energy and vibe of Los Angeles in the early 80s. features the band’s signature sound, with Dale Bozzio’s distinctive vocals layered over a driving beat and guitar and pulsing synth . I am a Missing Persons fan always have been and these are two great songs. Well done Mama Ann M! Salute!

Crazy Cousin Carl bringing the Pop Punk Vibe Dbl Play Style to the Zone with his Green Day request.

The first track was American Idiot .”American Idiot” is a politically charged punk rock song by the American band Green Day. Released in 2004, the song was a response to the political climate of the time. It was a massive commercial success, receiving numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance. It also served as the title track for Green Day’s successful concept album of the same name, which tells the story of a young man named Jesus of Suburbia and his disillusionment with the American dream.

The second track was Pollyanna. Pollyanna is an uplifting track from Green Day that is about Better Days are ahead. The lyrics of the song are a bit more optimistic than the band’s usual political and social commentary. It was released as a part of a series of singles that the band released during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep their fans engaged and entertained. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the band was able to produce a track that shows a different side of their artistry. Great Job Crazy Cousin Carl! Salute!

This time with a Tesla Dbl Play! the first track was What You Give.            “What You Give” is a powerful rock ballad from their 1991 album “Psychotic Supper.” The song’s emotional resonance and relatable lyrics helped it become one of Tesla’s most successful singles, reaching the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. “What You Give” is a testament to Tesla’s ability to craft powerful and meaningful rock songs, and it remains a beloved classic in the band’s discography.

The second track was Hang Tough. Its from their 1989 album “The Great Radio Controversy.””Hang Tough” is a hard rock anthem that showcases Tesla’s raw energy and powerful guitar riffs. The lyrics encourage listeners to persevere through difficult times and to stand up for what they believe in.Great Job Gang! Salute!

1st LT. Nina M comes in at #1 with Her Dbl Play request of the Scorpions! The Scorpions have churned out a ton of hits through the years. Even their deep cuts are great!! The two tracks in this Dbl play are just the tip of the Scorpion Iceberg  of kick as tuneage. The first track was Wind of Change.                                  “Wind of Change” is a timeless rock ballad that resonates with people all over the world. Released in 1990, the song became an instant hit, reaching the top of the charts in many countries. Its lyrics speak of the changes that were taking place in Eastern Europe at the time, particularly in the Soviet Union, as the Iron Curtain began to come down. The power ballad has become an anthem of sorts for the peaceful revolution that swept across Eastern Europe in the late 1980s and early 1990s.Despite being released over 30 years ago, “Wind of Change” remains a beloved classic that continues to inspire generations of fans around the world.
