Check out Black Stone Cherry and Nonpoint at the Starland Ballroom on Friday, July 26th!

Black Stone Cherry is a force of modern rock to be reckoned with, hailing from Edmonton, Kentucky, formed in the early 2000s. This incredible quartet has created quite the niche for themselves with a distinctive blend of southern and hard rock with the addition of blues influence, drawing inspiration from Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The band stemmed from two friends who enjoyed making music together, Chris Robertson and John Fred Young, both boys’ fathers were members of a music group called the Kentucky Headhunters. And as this musical family connection laid the foundation for Black Stone Cherry, which later led to the boys inviting additions to the band when they were in their teens, Ben Wells, and Jon Lawhon. Together these four embarked on an incredible journey from a small-town beginning to international acclaim.

When looking back on their journey, it took a steady pace—their relentless work ethic and passion for performance led to their first album, self-titled, and released in 2006. This debut included tracks like “Lonely Train” and “Hell and High Water”, showcasing their songwriting prowess as well as raw energy and talent. The initial success of their first album laid groundwork for their string of critically acclaimed albums like Folklore and Superstition (2008), Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea (2011), and Magic Mountain (2014).

Aside from their proficient and successful studio career, it is well known that Black Stone Cherry is quite the show to see. The band has a great reputation for putting on energetic and unforgettable live shows, regardless of venue or capacity, headlining or not.

As Black Stone Cherry’s career has furthered, they have continued to evolve and push their own boundaries. Recently the band released an album in late September of 2023 called Screamin’ at the Sky. Now they are setting up for an international summer tour starting on June 5 at the Sweden Rock Festival.

Formed in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in the late 1990’s stood the iconic band Nonpoint; their hard rock has a reputation for aggressive sound, and unwavering commitment to their craft. The band originated from the vocalist Elias Soriano, and drummer Robb Rivera—the two shared a vision of creating music that would connect with audiences on a visceral level. Their inspirations for their craft come from appreciation of punk, metal, and alternative rock—which has helped them to create their own path in the rock industry.

The band’s breakthrough came from their debut album release of Statement (2000), which featured their hit single “What a Day”. This infectious song catapulted the band into mainstream, earning widespread acclaim and jump-started their fanbase.

Over the years, Nonpoint’s discography has grown with newer music like Miracle (2010), and X (2018). Their latest release was a 6-track EP, titled: Heartless (2023), and they are set to tour throughout almost the rest of the year!
