Ever been to a show to see a band and been blown away by the opening act? That does happen. Actually more often than you think. I’ve seen a number of bands that were so good that they almost upstaged the actual band I was there to see! Let’s take a look at 5 of the best live acts According To Jersey.
For my First Call Last Call feature I ask a question at about 4 pm weekdays. O post it to the DHA Facebook page and listeners answer by leaving their comments. I then use their answers or comments to put together a block of music at 5 pm. It’s really fun because I sometimes get to read short stories or see bands or songs listed that I didn’t think of myself.
Well, when I asked the question of whether you’ve seen an opening act outshine the band they were on the bill with I got a tremendous amount of responses. Some were surprising. Some, not so much! But listeners were happy to give me the details. Who was part of the lineup and even when and where it took place? One thing is for sure – there are some bands or artists who just bring it every damn time.
TC has said that you don’t want to be the band to follow Sevendust, because they just own the stage and I find that’s true for several artists. When I asked the question, there were artists from every subgenre of rock, but there were also a handful of artists that many people responded with. So that’s how I got this list.
