If you have kids, here are 13 movies that are totally not scary, but still capture the Halloween vibe.

Hocus Pocus

Yeah, they’re talking about rebooting this for TV, but why in the world would you do that? Nobody’s gonna make this scene any better.

Shaun of the Dead

Okay, so Shaun of the Dead is an acquired taste. There’s a lot of dry, British humor in it, and not to mention, there’s some bloody stuff in it. But honestly, if you were going to weigh your options between ShaunDead Alive, or The Walking Dead,  Shaun of the Dead is going to take the lead as the least scary. “You’ve got red on you.”

Nightmare Before Christmas

Is it a Halloween Movie? Is it a Christmas Movie?  The answer is… BOTH. It is the only movie in the history of time that can transcend October to December without breaking a sweat.

Vintage Christina Ricci and Bill Pullman. Case closed.

Coraline’s “Other Mother” (voiced by Teri Hatcher) is seriously creepy, and let’s be honest, if someone tried to sew buttons in your eyes, you’d be freaked out too.

Corpse Bride

This one has some dark undertones with the whole “disgruntled boyfriend killed her” thing, but still, it ends well.

Frankenstein gets a twist, and boy does it work out. Everyone has felt the loss at some point of a childhood pet, and this little boy took matters into his own hands.

“Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!”

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

We’re still waiting for the Great Pumpkin.

ParaNorman is The Sixth Sense meets Doctor Doolittle, because Norman can talk to the dead.

The Simpsons “Treehouse Of Horrors” – The Raven

Not necessarily a “movie,” but the episode that reads off Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” is both historically sharing a classic, not to mention some laughs in between.

I ain’t afraid of no ghost.

Harry Potter Series

It’s super kid-friendly, and not too scary.
