5 Killer New Rock Tunes You Need To Check Out -NOW – I love writing new music stories!

Every few weeks, I hit up a list of killer new tunes or new artists that are just too good to ignore. This week’s list is particularly awesome with the new Highly Suspect, a fantastic female vocalist who blends metal and country! (YUP) and more. And, the truly inspiring thing here – is not one band on the list sounds like any of the others in this top 5 list.

Some of these artists you may know, some you will discover. All different and all rocking.

Why Are Killer NEW Rock Tunes Important?

We all know what music does for us and let’s face it, as much as we love the classics that have traveled so many roads with us, there is nothing more invigorating as a music fan than discovering a new favorite, that you simply cannot stop listening to. New music discovery feeds the soul.

WDHA has always been committed to introducing our audience to new artists- For almost 50 years!

I remember the first time I “heard” Def Leppard on the station (I wasn’t working here, but LOVED WDHA, from Junior High on!) and the first time I played bands like Nirvana, Shinedown, and Godsmack on The Rock Of New Jersey.

It’s so exciting for the station to be a part of an artist’s journey and even more exciting to be the outlet to help fans “discover” bands that become their new favorites- That’s our job!

  • Tim Montana - Savage

A tune that Tim suggests you listen to- “EXCEPTIONALLY LOUD”! And I couldn’t agree more. Tim Montana is an emerging star who has a distinct ability to combine heavy and melody, dark and light, serious and fun with a tinge os Southern Rock and great storytelling. The album “Savage” is out July 12th and the video is a psychedelic trip! I can’t wait for more.

  • Wage War- Magnetic

Out of Florida, Wage War is quickly becoming one of Metal Music’s most exciting new bands.

A song about attraction, “Magnetic” is a melodic,  BIG song, taking this band to the next level. I remember seeing them on our 2022 WDHA Rock The Rock Fest bill and thinking- “These guys got it”!

  • Royale Lynn (Featuring Danny Worship Of Asking Alexandria) - Death Wish

What do you get when you cross a female rocker with a country vibe and a metal lean and add a bit of Asking Alexandria with a guest vocal slot from Danny Warsnop? You get “Death Wish” – A powerful tune from “Royale Lynn”, – You know I am inspired to discover fantastic female talent and Royale Lynn has the chops. Described by Billboard as “a ferocious newcomer with ceiling-scraping vocals”, her country, metal combination is perfection!

  • Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts- Glorybound

He’s a rockstar, producer and super unique artist who hails from Georgia, (but rocking in Nashville with his band) Tuk Smith (pronounced TUCK), and The Restless Hearts are awesome.  I’ve been a fan of Tuk since the bands released their 2022 debut album “Ballad Of A Misspent Youth”,   Tuk is a rockstar and phenomenal guitar player whose swagger and stage presence combined with hooky rock, pop, punk, guitar driven fun makes me wonder- “When Is This Band Going To Be HUGE”?

  • Highly Suspect- Summertime Voodoo

Highly Suspect fans- the band is back to their wicked guitar ways and I LOVE IT! “Summertime Voodoo” is a bluesy, jamming, guitar masterpiece that brings me back to my initial love for this dark, mysterious band of super talented musicians. I love Johnny Steven’s vocals too and the “trippy dippy” vibe is perfect for summer and his guitar reminds me of Robin Trower, meets Pat Travers, meets HIGHLY SUSPECT! So Good! The new album is called “As Above, So Below” and coming our way on July 19th.
