New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago Cancel St. Patrick’s Day Parades
New York’s iconic and always raucous St. Patrick’s Day Parade has just been canceled for this year thanks to the coronavirus, according to the New York Post. The Post reports that City Councilwoman Carlina Rivera (D-Manhattan) announced that the parade, set for next week, will not proceed.
Meanwhile, The Chicago Tribune reports that Mayor Lori Lightfoot canceled the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parades for this weekend because of fears the disease would spread through the dense crowds. ]
Last night, Philadelphia’s parade was canceled according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, and earlier this week Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade was canceled, according to the Boston Herald.
