Scenic Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey Places to Visit Before Winter
Summer is ending, but there’s still time to visit some charming Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey spots before winter. The fall is a lovely time to travel. As long as you’re not traveling in the snow, you should be good. Besides, traveling in the fall can be a lot more comfortable than in the summer, because the weather is usually much milder. In any case, here are some Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey areas to get on your list to visit before the snow falls. I can’t believe we’re talking about snow already, but yet, it’s not too far away.
Special Places to Visit Before Winter
The travel experts at Visit Pennsylvania have put together a tally of some places to visit before winter. “We asked some of our most trusted PA travelers exactly which must-visit places they recommend everyone must visit to check off their #PABucketList,” they write. “Each one makes a great getaway either on its own or could be part of a longer, multi-destination Pennsyvlania road trip.”
One of their top suggestions is the beautiful Kinzua State Park in Skywalk. Here, they suggest experiencing “some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Pennsylvania when you walk along the Kinzua Skywalk.” They add that, “this 624-foot walkway has a railroad track that leads to the end of an overlook and features a partial glass floor.” However, note that the skywalk will be under maintenance starting in late November, so they suggest to check the DCNR website before you go.
The experts at Visit New Jersey also have some favorites. In the fall, they suggest heading to the Washington Crossing State Park, “where General George Washington made his famous Christmas crossing of the Delaware River in 1776. The park brims with bridle paths, hiking trails, a nature center and a playground, all dotted along the Delaware River.”
In Delaware, the staff at Only In Your State recommends visiting Lums Pond State Park, which they say is “always at the top of our Delaware hiking spots list, and in the fall, you’ll find it’s one of the best places to visit Delaware in October for a walk in the cooler weather. Check out their event calendar and enjoy a hayride or bonfire.”
So, there you have it with a handful of spots in the Northeast to travel to before winter. Consider them all road trip-worthy destinations. Enjoy the crisp fall season.
