‘The Crow’ Reboot Loses Jason Momoa And Corin Hardy
Hey, maybe you should just leave ‘The Crow’ alone? Ya think?
According to Collider, the film was supposed to start filming in 5 weeks but now they are citing “creative and financial differences with Samuel Hadida, whose Davis Films holds underlying rights and who was financing the film.”
Sony was also backing the film as a distributor, but if they think the film is not viable for cost, it won’t be a good investment, especially without Jason Momoa.
The film was a cult classic of the 90’s with one of the best soundtracks of all time, and was one of film history’s most devastating on-site accidents, as Brandon Lee, who happened to be Bruce Lee‘s son (yes, that Bruce Lee, Martial Arts Legend), was shot on set and killed accidentally. After his death, they found a way to rework the film to finish it in honor of Brandon and omitting the scene where he was shot.
Lee’s legacy was something he wanted to make sure he ensured, as The Telegraph quotes him saying “I don’t want to be remembered as ‘the son of Bruce Lee’,” and that the character Eric Draven was the role that would make him a household name. It did, however, it put Brandon Lee on a pedestal for this particular film, and though they were 9 days out from finishing the film, so many bad things happened during the filming process, leaving it to be the 90’s version of a production of ‘Hamlet.’
A carpenter got hit with some power lines, icicles formed on power lines and damaged machines on set, it was so cold that everyone got sick, but Lee pushed on, and many were devastated when he was shot in the abdomen and died after 12 hours of surgery, says the retelling from The Telegraph.
So with that legacy, why would you want to reboot it in the first place? Other than Hollywood running out of original ideas? No one knows, but every time another report comes through that the film is back on the back burner, it’s a sigh of relief from super-fans of the film, who just want it to be left alone.
