New York Yankees Making History With First Female MLB Hitting Coach
The New York Yankees are making history as the first-ever MLB team to hire a female hitting coach. Rachel Balkovek is breaking barriers and is now an inspiration to athletes across the country.
While teams decided not to hire her because she’s a woman, Balkovek told herself that she needed to work harder. The newest member of the New York Yankees coaching staff holds two master degrees in human movement science.
Balkovek told CBS This Morning she had to create a gender neutral resume just to get a response. The 32-year-old previously worked as a minor league strength coach for both the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals.
Now, Balkovek is a part of the most successful franchise in all of professional sports and their future. Fans of the New York Yankees will see her in pinstripes on the field during the 2020 season.
