This month, Major League Baseball is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier on April 15, 1947.
Jackie actually broke the barrier in professional baseball a year earlier, right here in New Jersey, when he appeared for the Montreal Royals in a minor league game at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City.
Kostya Kennedy is a former senior writer for Sports Illustrated magazine, and a New York Times bestselling author. His new book True – the Four Seasons of Jackie Robinson takes a look at four pivotal seasons in Jackie’s life, including that monumental 1946 season.
April is National Youth Sports Safety Month and Jim Monaghan’s guest this morning is Dr. Carmen Romano. A Morris County resident, Dr. Romano is the founder of Madison Medical and Sports Rehabilitation Center.
Jim and Dr. Romano discuss some unfortunate statistics when it comes to youth athletes and what can be done to keep our young athletes healthy and on the playing field.
This week’s Rock N’ Ruff dog is Lourdes who joins us from Northstar Pet Rescue. Lourdes is a very friendly female Belgian Malinois shepherd who would make a wonderful addition to your family.
