Jersey Magazine 3-26-23
We close out March here on the Jersey Magazine with two interviews – Mike Marchiano on the World Baseball Classic, and a replay of Jim Monaghan’s chat with Kim Kaupe.
The World Baseball Classic came to an end this past week with Japan’s exciting 3-2 win over Team USA in the championship game.
Mike Marchiano had the opportunity to play for Team Italy in the 2001 World Baseball Cup tournament, the predecessor to the WBC.
Originally from Brooklyn, Mike was a star athlete at Jefferson Township high school before moving on to Fordham University and ultimately being drafted by the Seattle Mariners whose minor league system he played in for a few years.
Now a Senior Vice President for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management here in Morristown, Mike and Jim Monaghan talk about the journey to international baseball, the experience of playing in a world tournament, Fordham athletics, and some of the new rules coming to Major League Baseball in 2023.
Kim Kaupe describes herself as “an accidental entrepreneur” but there’s nothing accidental about her success.
Her unique style led her to being named to Forbes 30 Under 30, and starting a number of businesses which has helped her land A-list clients such as Paul McCartney, Oprah, and the New York Mets.
Kim’s weekly Coffee With Kim gettogethers (trivia: Kim drinks tea, not coffee) are a wonderful way to meet some fascinating people (Jim has “stolen” two of her guests for Jersey Magazine) and get motivated.
Kim and Jim talk about her entrepreneurial mindset, the difference between goals and resolutions, and even though it’s March, they continue Jim’s 2023 theme of a one-word resolution for 2023.
Roger Keyser from Eleventh Hour Rescue brought Birch and Apple to Rock N’ Ruff in hopes of finding these amazing puppies a great forever home.
If you’re looking for a young pup, these guys are perfect. They’re working on leash walking, housebreaking, crate training and obedience but most important, they have wonderful dispositions. In fact for puppies, they are on the calmer side.
Birch loves to give kisses and Apple is so cuddly. They are learning life in a home with their foster mom and enjoy toys and car rides. They are truly perfect! If you would like info on Birch and Apple – hit this link and fill out an application.
COACH SHEETS’ RIDE IN – Jeremy Sheetinger is the head baseball coach at Georgia Gwinnett College where he led the Grizz Gang to the 2021 NAIA National Championship. His weekly “fire me up” tweet every Thursday may, on the surface, be geared toward his fellow baseball coaches, but his motivational message can easily be applied to the classroom, workplace, and your personal relationships. When you ask someone how they’re doing and they give you the stock answer of “good,” take the extra step to find out what’s REALLY happening.
🚘 HOW ‘BOUT THAT RIDE IN?🚘

“Hey, how are you doing today?”
(Insert stock answer)
“Good.”
And both of you know that they aren’t good…
Ask the follow up! Dig a bit, let that person share how they are REALLY feeling!!
Easy to do… easy not to do!
