‘Joker 2’ To Film In New Jersey
Hollywood is coming to New Jersey. The sequel to the 2019 Joker, Joker 2 officially dubbed Joker: Folie à Deux, will film some scenes in the Garden State, per NJ Advance Media. Folie à deux describes a mental illness or delusion shared by two people.
Director Todd Phillips shared a first-look photo on Instagram Tuesday (Feb. 14) starring Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Arthur Fleck, aka The Joker. Oscar-winner Lady Gaga will be playing Dr. Harleen Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn.
Phoenix won his first Oscar in 2020 for playing Fleck. Joker received a total of 11 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score which won for memorable scenes like the bathroom and stairs scene. Lady Gaga won her Oscar in 2019 for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) for her song “Shallow” in A Star Is Born.
The New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission told the outlet that scenes filmed in New Jersey will begin in late March. Specific locations have not been made public. Production currently has already begun in Los Angeles and New York. In 2018, Joker was filmed in Essex and Hudson counties.
Joker: Folie à Deux will be released next year.
