Here in New Jersey, we love Dave Grohl. Then again, I think the whole world loves him. He’s a super-talented musician and one of the nicest guys in rock. I have a feature at 5 PM called First Call Last Call. It’s a themed block of music for your ride home that is put together based on the responses to the question of the day on the DHA Facebook page. The other day I mentioned that Dave Grohl’s birthday was approaching, and I asked what song with Dave’s drumming or vocals you absolutely love. Of course, I got some great responses. You could pick from awesome drumming on Nirvana songs, catchy melodies of Foo Fighters, and more. He’s played on a lot, with a lot of different people, so there’s sure to be at least one song you dig from his extensive catalog.
Dave Grohl has done so many interviews and meet and greets and you never hear a bad thing about him. Just that he’s so kind, insightful, and even motivational. He’s always talking about following your dreams, especially regarding young musicians.
His drumming is so good. It’s not overly complicated but fits each song he plays on so very well! And his songwriting skills are on another level. He can rock out with an up-tempo banger, or give you a spacey, dreamlike ballad with heart.
The songs he’s been a part of are a lot of fun to listen to and I loved reading through the responses of what DHA listeners think is his best song.
