New Jersey: Jon Stewart Announces Spring Show Date
Jon Stewart is coming in hot into 2024. As we know, he is back hosting the The Daily Show on Comedy Central each Monday night. In addition, Jon Stewart is going on tour this year, and you can see him in New Jersey.
Starting next month, Stewart will hit the road along the east coast. “An Evening With Jon Stewart” kicks off on March 1 in Poughkeepsie, New York at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House. “Considered one of America’s leading social and comedic voices, Stewart has an unparalleled ability to connect with audiences from many walks of life through his acerbic wit, self-deprecating humor, and passion for doing what’s right,” Live Nation said in a press release.
The New Jersey stop for “An Evening With Jon Stewart” will be at the McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton. This is the middle date on the itinerary, with the show pulling into town on Friday, March 29th. This is just a short six miles away from where the New Jersey native grew up in Lawrenceville.
If you plan on going to see Stewart, here is something you’ll need to know. This will be a “phone-free” experience. “Upon arrival at the venue, all phones, smart watches, and accessories will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event,” Live Nation explained. While show attendees do remain in possession of their phones, they will need to access a designated area in the venue to use them.
What Else Is Jon Stewart Doing In 2024?
This past Monday, Stewart kicked off his weekly spot hosting the Daily Show. He is also the executive producer. “In addition to host, Stewart is also a writer, producer, director, political commentator and actor,” USA Today explained of Stewart’s return.
Stewart first took over The Daily Show 25 years ago when he succeeded Craig Kilborn. Also, 25 years ago, Stewart starred alongside Adam Sandler in the wildly popular film Big Daddy. There is no word yet on whether or not Sandler and company will pay tribute to this comedy in June when it officially reaches the anniversary.
In the meantime, tickets are now on sale for the “Evening With Jon Stewart” tour. Other markets included in this tour include, York, PA, Stamford CT, and Wilmington, DE.
Jim Carrey's 5 Best Movie Roles Ranked
James Eugene Carrey was born in Ontario, Canada, on January 17, 1962. As the youngest of four siblings, Jim Carrey began making faces in front of a mirror at eight years old and discovered he had a talent for doing impressions. At one point, while he was a teenager, his family became homeless and lived together in a Volkswagen van while he and his brother spent months living in a tent. His mother, Kathleen, was a homemaker, and his father, Percy, was a musician. His family’s financial situation improved once his father found employment as an accountant. Jim and his brother John worked across the street as janitors and security guards at the tired factory, working overnight shifts. By his sixteenth birthday, Jim dropped out of school and began to perform comedy in downtown Toronto while continuing to work at the factory.
Carrey’s Career Beginnings
Carrey was just 15 years old when he performed his first stand-up routine. Though his first shot with conventional impersonations tanked at the club — it was used to raunchy comedy acts — he returned two years later with a more polished act that led to his first paid gig. Carrey was booked. However, he received a raving review in the Toronto Star a few weeks later (you can see a screenshot of it here). A few months later, he appeared in an episode of the televised stand-up show An Evening at the Improv. Then, he landed his first television role in a made-for-TV movie in Rubberface. He gained wide recognition in the US in 1990 after landing a role in the sketch comedy television series In Living Color. In 1994, he broke out as a star in films with three back-to-back comedy hits: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber.
Carrey previously announced that he will probably retire from acting. That would make 2022’s Sonic The Hedgehog 2 the final film of his long career as an actor with 65 credits. However, he did offer his voice in The Weeknd’s Dawn FM following his “announcement.” If Carrey’s movie-making is finished, take a look below at the five best roles the comedian and actor has blessed the world with:
