Morristown VT Police Give Steamed Lobsters As Reward for Info Leading To Arrest
What would you do for some steamed lobster? Would you give the police vital information? That is exactly what The Morristown Police Department is hoping for.
As a means to increase community engagement, the department has been issuing “community challenges”. This particular challenge, provided information that would lead to the arrest of Morristown’s top spot on the warrant list, Wendell Wallbridge Jr. The prize…three steamed lobsters.
The winner of the challenge could receive the prize in one of two ways. Either that have the opportunity to have a nice dinner at the department with their K9, Knox. Alternatively, the lobsters could be delivered discreetly by police. Lobsters were even offered to Wallbridge if he so chose to turn himself in.
Morristown PD assured residents that tax dollars would not be used to purchase the lobsters.
It did not take long for the prize to be claimed. Police say within 1 hour of the post, Wallbridge was taken into custody without incident.
More Morristown Police Challenges
This was not the first time a tasty treat was up for grabs when offering information to the department. Just a day before, Morristown Police offered up NINE Shamrock Shakes for information that led to the arrest of Kasiey Ainsworth, who previously held the top spot on the wanted list. He was taken into custody on two outstanding warrants.
At the time of Ainsworth’s arrest, the department had 55 active warrants at the same time.
This is a trend that appears to be working for Morristown Police. They’ve created a post on Facebook teasing their fifth community information challenge. Offering up 87 Octane as the prize.
“An arrest warrant is an invitation to get back into the system and engage in a clear path forward”, said the department in a Facebook post. They continued to say they encourage anybody who believes they are wanted or unsure to have a conversation with them to discuss moving forward.
Police emphasize to those wishing to participate in the challenges to not put themselves, their family, friends, or pets in danger. “Let us do all the work”
