We celebrated the birthday of Axl Rose this week and today it’s Vince Neil’s turn. The frontman of Motley Crue turns 63 today. I thought it might be fun to take a look at 5 songs I love from Motley Crue!

Vince contributed some great vocal work to Motley Crue. They were a band known for wild partying and not taking crap from anyone. What’s so great about them is they had a really cool presence and attitude. Plus, they’re playing was tight and skillful and they knew how to put on a killer live show. Vince’s vocals worked really well with the riffs, and they had so many really infectious melodies. It was hard to get them out of your head! Sure, they had their fair share of up-tempo heavy rockers, but they could also slow it down with a power ballad or just give you a fun mid-tempo tune that was super catchy!

The band has gone on to become one of the most recognizable faces of 80’s hair metal. They’re on the Mt. Rushmore for that subgenre. And there’s a reason why. Think about it – Between Vince’s vocals, The awesome riffs, and drum solos from Tommy Lee, it’s hard not to appreciate what they did! So many solid albums and as I said the songs were varied in style but always remained well-written and planned out. They were true rockstars that made you want to pick up a guitar or a pair of sticks and bang away.

So, on this, the birthday of Vince Neil let’s take a look back at some great songs that stand out. These are just 5 of my favorite and are in no particular order. But I thought it’d be fun to go through their catalog and hear some great tunes.

Here’s 5 Songs I Love from Motley Crue!

  • RATTLESNAKE SHAKE

A really fun one from the “Feelgood” record. It’s upbeat with some cool horns.

  • ON WITH THE SHOW

So Raw, rockin’ yet emotional with a cool story.  A fun listen….

  • KNOCK 'EM DEAD, KID

This riff is really cool and there’s an awesome solo in the middle.  I really dig this one!

  • RED HOT

I hate to get this one on the list.  Love that double bass drum action from Tommy Lee.  And it’s just a fun up-tempo rocker!

  • KICKSTART MY HEART

If this doesn’t get your adrenaline going, what will?  It’s so fun and gets everyone moving!
